Once you have decided that you are ready, willing and able to start a business, the next step is to plan your business. You may have heard the quote, “Those that fail to plan, plan to fail.” It could not be truer than for those starting a business. The business plan is the road map for your business. It helps you figure out how you will make your business successful. Some believe that if they are not looking for financing for their business, then they do not need a plan. This is not true. Taking the time to think through how your business will operate and writing this down will prove to be invaluable.  Planning does not only include the process of creating a business plan. It is an ongoing process as you think through where your business is and where you want it to be.
